Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has appealed to residents of the state to forgive the shortcomings of his administration and those of elected lawmakers, while urging them to continue supporting the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The governor made the appeal on Sunday during a Democracy Thanksgiving Service held at the Government House Chapel in Abakaliki to mark the third anniversary of his administration.
Speaking before a congregation that included government officials, political leaders, religious figures, and members of the public, Nwifuru acknowledged that his government and elected representatives may not have met all expectations while serving the people.
In an emotional appeal, the governor asked residents to overlook any mistakes made by his administration, members of the National Assembly, and lawmakers in the Ebonyi State House of Assembly.
“Please forgive us; forgive me, the National Assembly members and the House of Assembly members. Forgive our shortcomings and vote for us again,” he said.
Reflecting on his three years in office, Nwifuru expressed gratitude to God for what he described as the successes recorded by his administration despite the challenges encountered along the way.
He noted that governance is a continuous learning process that requires humility, commitment, and the cooperation of the people, stressing that no administration can claim perfection.
