A Nigerian man has sparked widespread debate online after releasing a fiery video message directed at the Minister of Works, David Umahi, questioning his handling of allegations made by a businesswoman who claims she is owed money.
In the viral clip circulating across social media platforms, the speaker repeatedly referred to the minister as a “boy” rather than a “man,” accusing him of failing to address claims that he had refused to settle financial obligations dating back to before his time in public office.
The man framed his remarks as advice from a “younger brother,” but his tone was sharply critical. At the center of the controversy is a woman who has, for months, publicly alleged that she worked for Umahi prior to his emergence as a governor and that she has not been paid for her services.
The accuser also claims she introduced foreign-based investors into real estate projects in Nigeria, only for disputes to arise later.
In his video, the critic questioned the minister directly: “Do you owe her money, yes or no?” He argued that the prolonged public dispute has damaged not only Umahi’s personal reputation but also the image of his family and the credibility of public office.
The speaker further accused the minister of allowing personal grievances to overshadow national interest, particularly in relation to diaspora investment.
According to him, the controversy risks discouraging Nigerians abroad and foreign investors from committing funds to projects back home, out of fear that their investments may not be adequately protected.
He also referenced a previous statement allegedly made by the minister in which he described himself as a “dangerous man,” interpreting it as evidence of a personal vendetta rather than a measured response expected of a public official.
Beyond the personal attacks, the broader issue raised in the video centers on investor confidence and governance.

The critic warned that disputes involving public officials and private investors could send negative signals about the safety of investments in Nigeria, particularly at a time when the country seeks to strengthen economic growth and attract foreign capital. As of press time, the Minister of Works has not issued a fresh response to the latest viral video. However, the controversy continues to trend online, with Nigerians divided between those demanding accountability and those condemning the tone and language used against a sitting minister.
The situation adds to ongoing public scrutiny surrounding allegations tied to the minister, with observers calling for transparency and, if necessary, legal clarification to resolve the claims once and for all.
