Dr. Abayomi Arabambi, the factional National Vice Chairman (South West) of the Labour Party (LP), has said that former LP presidential candidate, Peter Obi, may not have found a permanent political refuge in the National Democratic Coalition (NDC), warning that his political journey could face fresh challenges.

Arabambi made the remarks while reacting to Obi’s recent association with the NDC movement, arguing that the former Anambra State governor should not expect to leave the Labour Party without facing political repercussions.

According to him, Obi’s actions contributed to internal crises within the Labour Party, and any attempt to move on politically without addressing those issues could attract resistance from members who remain committed to the party’s structure and ideals.

The LP chieftain maintained that political platforms cannot be weakened and abandoned without consequences, stressing that political realities have a way of catching up with key actors involved in party disputes.

Arabambi further noted that Nigeria’s political landscape remains highly competitive and that no individual can successfully impose themselves on the electorate without widespread acceptance across different regions and political interests.

Despite his criticism, he acknowledged that the ultimate decision on who becomes Nigeria’s president rests with the electorate.

He added that any aspirant seeking the nation’s highest office must convince Nigerians with clear positions on governance, accountability, and anti-corruption measures rather than relying solely on political alliances or party realignments.

His comments come amid growing discussions about possible political coalitions and realignments ahead of future elections, with several opposition figures exploring new partnerships aimed at reshaping the country’s political landscape, see more…
