Popular TikToker Mama G has stirred widespread controversy on social media after releasing a video in which she harshly criticized the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, over claims that church members were prevented from staging a protest in Oyo State.
The controversy follows reports of the abduction of pupils and teachers from a school in Oyo State, an incident that has heightened concerns about insecurity and prompted calls for stronger action from authorities.
In the viral video, Mama G alleged that some RCCG members planned to organize a peaceful protest in response to the kidnapping but were discouraged from doing so.
She further claimed that the decision was influenced by the church’s perceived relationship with Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who is known to be a pastor within the RCCG.
However, no official evidence has been presented to support the allegation, and the claims remain unverified.
Expressing anger over the security situation in the country, the TikToker accused prominent religious leaders of failing to speak out strongly enough on issues affecting ordinary Nigerians.
During the emotional video, she directed sharp criticism at Pastor Adeboye, alleging that some church leaders have not done enough to defend the interests of citizens facing hardship and insecurity.
Mama G’s remarks escalated further as she uttered curses and made inflammatory statements against the respected cleric and members of his family, comments that have since generated intense reactions across social media platforms.
The video quickly gained traction online, dividing public opinion. While some users argued that religious leaders should take a more active role in addressing national issues and holding authorities accountable, others condemned the TikToker’s language, describing her comments as disrespectful and inappropriate.
Several social media commentators also called for restraint, emphasizing the need for public discourse to remain civil despite disagreements over political and religious matters.
As of the time of filing this report, neither Pastor Adeboye nor the leadership of RCCG had issued an official statement addressing the allegations raised in the viral video.
