“We Can’t Stay Quiet Anymore — We Need Answers…I Won’t Sit on the Fence Anymore…It’s Too Much Now—Afrobeats Star Wizkid Breaks Silence on Nigeria’s Hardships

Nigerian music superstar Wizkid has openly criticized the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, expressing deep concern over the worsening living conditions faced by millions of Nigerians.

In an emotional outburst, the Grammy-winning singer lamented the persistent lack of basic amenities across the country, particularly the absence of stable electricity, poor road infrastructure, and rising insecurity.

According to him, many Nigerians are forced to rely on generators, while a significant number cannot even afford them, leaving families to endure nights in darkness.

Wizkid described the situation as “hurtful,” stressing that the daily struggles of ordinary citizens have reached an unbearable level.

He pointed to the impact of these challenges on future generations, revealing that his concerns are also personal as he worries about the kind of Nigeria his children will grow up in.

The artist also accused political actors of creating an atmosphere of fear that discourages open criticism, noting that many citizens avoid speaking out due to intimidation.

However, he said the current realities have made silence no longer an option. In a notable shift from his previous stance of political neutrality, Wizkid declared that he would no longer remain on the sidelines during election periods.

He explained that while he had previously refrained from influencing voters due to distrust in the system, the current situation demands more direct engagement and accountability.

He further called on the president to address Nigerians more frequently, emphasizing that transparent communication could help ease public frustration.

According to him, widespread hunger and economic hardship have left citizens desperate for both answers and action.

Wizkid’s remarks add to a growing wave of voices from public figures and citizens alike demanding improved governance and tangible reforms, as the country edges closer to another election cycle.
